January is Teen Cancer Awareness Month ??, and we are honoring the courage of wish kids like Deric.
During his battle with lymphoma, Deric’s wish to go on an international cruise ?? helped bring light to his cancer fight. Swimming, relaxing, adventure activities, and eating A LOT were just a few of the things Deric dreamt of during treatments.
Deric and his family sailed through the Caribbean on the Independence of the Seas. They soaked up sunshine in the Bahamas, ziplined through Puerto Rico’s forests, and explored the beauty of St. Thomas. In between ports, they laughed, surfed waves on the ship’s simulator, and shared countless delicious meals together.
For Deric, the greatest gift wasn’t just the destinations—it was also the time with family ??, creating memories that will last forever ?.
Inspired by the joy the wish brought, Deric’s dad even shifted his long-standing charitable giving to support Make-A-Wish San Diego—and encouraged other family members to join him ??
