Forty-five years ago, a community came together to create hope and joy for a little boy named Chris, who was battling leukemia and longed to be a police officer
. These original WishMakers were so inspired by the impact his wish had that they vowed to do more. The global movement known today as Make-A-Wish was born – and 615,000 children have received wishes since

But the work is far from done. In the next 20 minutes, a child will learn that they have a critical illness. And 20 minutes later, another.
